According to my contacts at Reese, the # 37042 hitch was discontinued and became obsolete in late 2009. Reese could not tell me if it would fit a 2011 Kia Sorento. I managed to locate their fit list for that hitch, and the vehicles mentioned are all full and mid sized pickups and minivans.

Because it is a multiple-fit application, if it fits the vehicle you would need to drill holes in the vehicle frame to install the hitch.

I cannot tell you how many folks I have heard from that purchased a multi-fit hitch and were displeased with the fit of the hitch on their vehicle.

I believe you would be much happier using a hitch that is actually designed for your Sorento.

The 2 hitches we offer for the 2011 Sorento with the 4 cylinder engine will only work on vehicles with a single exhaust. Dual exhausts will interfere with the hitch installation.

Draw-Tite, which is a sister company of Reese, offers the # 75684 hitch for your Sorento, but I would recommend the Curt Class III receiver, part # C13073. Not only is it the least expensive of the two offerings, it will also be the most visually appealing. Only the receiver opening and a short portion of the round tube crossbar on either side of the receiver will be visible from the rear, instead of the entire crossbar, like with the Draw-Tite model. The hitch would require no drilling, and would use existing holes in the frame to install. Honestly, Curt makes a great product and you would sacrifice nothing by using one of their hitches.

If you were planning on doing some light duty towing, you might also need the following to complete your towing set-up:

Trailer wiring harness, part # 118506
Ball mount, part # D-4
1-7/8 inch trailer ball, part # 19260
2 inch trailer ball, part # 19247
Pin and clip, part # PC3
Locking hitch pin, part # e98882

Per the Curt warranty requirements, a stabilizing strap like part # 18050 is required for all non-trailer loads like a bike rack or cargo carrier. I will link you to a previous customer question that includes a video showing how to use the strap.
