Can I Weld the Husky Sway Ball Mount on my Trailer Frame
Question:
Can I add a 3/8” backing plate between the frame and the sway ball mount, or does that negatively affect the geometry angle of the sway bar to the receiver ball. I want to make a frame bolt on mount with the trailer frame sway ball mount welded to it. I prefer not to drill my trailer frame and the sway ball mounts are not as strong as I would like. I know I can buy a bolt on mount if I have to but would prefer to make a beefed up version.

Yes the attachement ball on the trailer of kits like the Curt Friction Sway Control for Weight Distribution Systems part # 17200 can be added on by welding them. This is a very passive system and moving it out 3/8" from the actual frame will have zero negative effect on the performance of the system.
