Recommended Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Boat Trailer with Disc Brakes

Question:

I have a Tandem axle 2005 Heritage Boat Trailer with surge hydraulic disc brakes. Should I get 1200 or 1600 psi kit? Mine is a identical trailer to the one in the video using the Hydrastar kit. Thanks

I have a solution for you but since you've got disc brakes on your trailer, you'll need an actuator that provides 1600 psi in order to engage the calipers on disc brakes. For that reason you won't be able to use the Hydrastar # HS381-9066 which only provides 1200 psi and is designed for drum brakes. Instead, I recommend using the HydraStar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator # HS381-9067 since it is made in the USA. This actuator will provide you with the 1600psi you'll need for your disc brakes and has a vented end plate that releases pressure, moisture, and heat in order to protect the internal components. This is going to allow you to mount this actuator just about anywhere on your trailer frame and not worry about overheating. This is a complete kit that comes with all the wiring you'll need, as well as the breakaway battery.

I've linked an installation video and review video for you to have a look at, as well.
