Best Weight Distribution for 2019 Buick Enclave for Ground Clearance and Level Towing

Question:

I have a nice new Aluma trailer that I will be using a 2019 Buick Enclave to tow with. I wanted a weight distribution hitch with it but the Curt 17062 doesnt look like it will work. If this system takes out the inches symbol note that numbers below are in inches. The hitch puts the ball too high relative to the trailer. As currently installed, the front of the trailer sits 6 higher than the back. With a 1 rise on the trailer the receiver sits at 16½. Top of ball on the hitch head adjusted to its lowest position is 22½ loaded, 5 higher. If I get an extended shank to lower the unit I think it puts the distribution bars and bottom of the hitch mount too low for regular use ground clearance. What other options are available that would solve this problem? The Enclave has a 5,000 lb towing capacity. Trailer weight is 2,200 lbs, and the load will never be over 2,200 pounds. Thanks.

For your trailer to sit level you do need ability to have more drop on the hitch ball. Now I realize you are pretty low on ground clearance already, but since you are using a round bar setup you could make switch to trunnion bar setup and you'd have much better ground clearance. So since that is going to require you to buy a new shank, head, and bars it you'd be at a point that it would make the most sense to just go with an all new kit.

The best option for that would be Equal-i-zer kit part # EQ37101ET which does not come with a shank so that you could get one with more drop like the # EQ90-02-4200 which can do up to 4 inches of drop like it looks like would work perfect for you. This will give you the best weight distribution and sway control around, will allow your trailer to sit level, and will have much better ground clearance so it covers everything well.
