How to Tow 2018 Chevy Equinox 2.0 liter Turbo Engine Behind Motorhome

Question:

According to my owners manual the 2018 Equinox 2.0L I4 Gasoline Engine - Turbocharged cannot be flat towed in either FWD or AWD. Do you have updated information from Chevy that indicates otherwise?

While we do have base plate kit fits for your 2018 Chevy Equinox that has the 2.0 liter turbo engine upon further research you are correct the vehicle could only be towed on a dolly if it was front wheel drive like the Roadmaster # RM-2000-1. If it's all wheel drive only option would be on a trailer. You're next question is probably, "why do you make a base plate kit for a vehicle that can't be flat towed," which is a valid question. The reality is our manufacturers will make kits for vehicle if there is a demand regardless of whether the manufacturer recommends against it. I would strongly recommend a tow dolly though.

A tow dolly like the part # RM-2050-1 actually isn't a terrible option at all too. Either way you end up spending about the same amount of money since flat-towing components are pretty pricey and with the tow dolly there isn't an in-depth install like what base plate kits require.

Plus, if you ever need to flat tow an different vehicle you wouldn't have to buy an additional base plate kit wiring kit and have it installed. The tow dolly comes with everything needed.
