Can 6-Way on Towed Vehicle be Hardwired to 7-Way Connector on RV

Question:

I use a blue ox tow bar to pull a car behind my motorhome. The cord which came from blue ox has a six pin connector on each end. The installer provided an adapter to allow me to connect my six pin cord to the connector on the motorhome. You sell a seven pin connector which looks like the adapter. The only difference I can see is the adapter does not have a center pin. Can I hard wire my six connector wire to the seven pin connector and eliminate the adapter? Thanks.

The easiest way to connect your towed vehicle to the 7-Way on your RV will be to use a cord like the Blue Ox 7-Wire to 6-Wire Coiled Electrical Cord # BX88206. This will allow you to quickly connect your tow vehicle to your RV by using the included coiled cable that features a 6-Way on one end and a 7-Way on the other.

If you would rather hardwire the 6-way wires from the towed vehicle cord to the 7-Way, you can certainly do this. You will just need to make sure that you make the proper connections when hardwiring the unit.

I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the wires for function before doing this.
