Blue Ox Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2018 Chevy Equinox

Question:

Hi, I need to set up our 2018 Equinox for flat towing behind our class A motorhome. I did see the post with recommendations for a 2018, but I wanted to go with the Blue Ox brand. Thinking of getting this unit. BX7380 And this unit for the braking system. SM99251 Is this a good choice and what other items will I need for the installation? Thanks in advance

For flat towing your 2018 Chevy Equinox we do have the parts you need to flat tow it. For a base plate kit you'd need to start with the Blue OX part # BX1730 which is a confirmed fit. This would work great with the Blue Ox Tow Bar part # BX7380 that you also mentioned. This is one of the nicest tow bars available so it would be a great choice.

The SMI DUO part # SM99251 would then be a great choice as well for supplemental braking. This is a favorite with our installers because of how well it performs and how relatively easy it is to install. You'll need the stop light switch part # RM-751489 as well.

For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.

Most likely you will also need a high low adapter so that the tow bar will be level when you are flat towing. I attached a link to a page that has all of the ones we carry.

I have included a couple of helpful links to our articles on flat towing for you. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for more specific information on flat towing your vehicle.

Can all these parts be bought in one whole kit or bundle?

These flat towing components unfortunately aren't all available in a single bundle. This is something we have been trying to work on because it would certainly make things easier, but as of now your only option is to purchase each part individually.
