Video Transcript for Rampage Vehicle Heaters - Interior Vehicle Heater - RA3501 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number RA3501. This is the Rampage Radiant Backseat Heater. The backseat heater is going to provide extra warmth for your vehicle. It's going to be ideal to be used in vehicles, boats, campers, tractors, and off-road equipment, off-road vehicles, a wide variety of applications that you could choose to use this for. It's going to feature a 300-Watt unit that's going to radiate heat quickly and efficiently. The special treatment on the blower window is going to reduce the risk of a burn. It's got a nice little felt pad on it.

That way the actual element right here isn't going to get hot enough to actually burn you if you we're to touch it. It's got a very easy to access toggle switch that's going to let you turn the heater on and off. The down position is going to turn on both the fan and the heat. The middle position is going to be the off position. Then the up position is going to run the fan only without heat. Right here, you're going to have the fan speed control. It can be rotated clockwise for high speed when it comes to the fan or it can be rotated counter-clockwise for low speed.

In each position, you're going to have 4 different options as far as speed goes, whether it's high fan or low fan. It's going to feature the integrated swivel mount that's going to be here on the bottom. You can see how it connects like a little ball joint here on the sides. It's going to allow the fan to be able to be tilted up you to adjust position of unit or to be able to to go down. That way you can totally customize the angle that the heat or that the air is moving or blowing. Here on the bottom, I just want to take a look at the mounting bracket. It's a simple, universal installation mounting system. The overall length that we have of the mounting bracket is going to measure 7-5/8 of an inch.

The overall width of that bracket is going to give us a measurement of 2-9/16 of an inch. The mounting holes, center on center, are going to be separated by 5 inches. The mounting hardware is included. This unit is designed to wire into any 12-volt power source. You can bolt the bracket securely to the vehicle's floor with a pre-drilled mounting holes inside the bracket. Again, it does come with the hardware. Now these wires, we measured them.

They measure about one-on-one feet in length, just over 11 feet in length. It should be plenty of wire to run to your battery. The red and black wires are going to connect to the terminals. They're going to supply power to the heater. The dimensions of the heater itself, if we measure the overall length or width, that's going to give us a measurement from the outside of the mount to the outside of the mount on the other side. It's going to be about 7-3/4 of an inch. The overall height is going to be about 6-3/4 of an inch. Then the overall depth or thickness is going to give us a measurement of about 5 inches. The power draw is going to be at 12 volts. The wattage is going to be 300 watts. That's going to do it for our review of RA3501. Also, on the red wire, I want to go and show you that it has the fuse connected as well as already installed. It comes with that as well. This is the Rampage Radiant Backseat Heater. .

This heater is being used to supplement an existing heater in a van. I like that it was very easy to install. I also like the physical size of the heater. After using it throughout some cold days in November I felt that it might be best suited for a very small enclosed space, like the size of a tractor cab in temperatures that don't go below 45F. I wouldn't recommend it for an area larger than 300 cubic feet. I can barely feel the heat emitting from the unit when my hand is 6 inches directly in front of it. I went into the purchase with fairly low expectations so I'm glad that I didn't spend more than $[XX] to purchase this heater.

Okay, not great. Think for my application, I would choose something different. Quality is just so so. Not a great value for the price paid

by:

The amount of heat is weak. Just too sm all.

I do have another heater that you can consider, part # KH37100. This one plugs into standard 120-volt AC outlet and uses 900 watts.

Awesome unit. Works great.

by:

Wish it could put out more heat, otherwise it works well.

by:

This product is far greater than I expected! It actually puts out more heat than it is in size. Great investment I love it!

Fast delivery good product.

  • Portable Heater Options for Camper Van
It's always a good idea to think ahead. The Flex-a-lite Mojave Vehicle Heater # FLX640 is more of a permanent installation so if you plan on moving the heater frequently we'll want to look at something else like part # RA3501 that uses a bolt-on installation, but it's small enough that you should be able to move it around and secure it to a variety of locations. I'm attaching a link to our selection of heaters that are normally used for camper applications. Some of them use 12V power while...

  • What is Amperage Draw of Rampage Radiant Backseat Heater # RA3501
The Rampage Radiant Backseat Heater # RA3501 will draw 25 amps when used which I believe will limit the range of your electric car quite a bit. How much so depends on the vehicle though. You could compare the amperage draw of this to the draw of your current heater to get a decent comparison.

  • Can Rampage Radiant Backseat Heater # RA3501 be Powered by Solar Panel Generator
The Rampage Radiant Backseat Heater # RA3501 draws 25 amps or 300 watts at 12 volts to function. So of the two solar generators you mentioned you'd need the 500 watt option and it would work well.

  • Will Using Rampage Heater # RA3501 Drain Battery On 1985 Ford Ranger Overnight
The Rampage Radiant Backseat Heater, part # RA3501, has a 300 watt output. If left on all night, it will probably drain the battery on your 1985 Ford Ranger. I would recommend a second battery as the power source for your heater. It would eliminate the need to hook the cables from the heater to the truck battery. I also recommend a charger like the NOCO Genius # 329-GENIUS5. This charger will automatically switch to trickle mode to maintain the charge on the battery, which prevents overheating...

  • How to Use A Portable Heater in My ATV
We have had great reviews for the Rampage Radiant Backseat Heater part # RA3501. It uses a 12V power source so you can wire it directly to the battery of the Cub Cadet. As long as you are using it while the ATV is started it should not drain the battery. If you leave the heater on while the ATV's engine is not running then it can drain the battery. You can wire the heater to its own 12V battery and use a trickle charger part # CTEK56353 to maintain the battery's charge. I am not sure...

  • Heater Options for Interior of Older GMC Truck
You'd have to check the wattage of your inverter to determine if it could power the Kat's Heaters Vehicle Interior Heater # KH37100 that you referenced. If it's rated for 900 watts or more this would work but if it's lower rated it would not. Otherwise we have a 12 volt heater that could be wired directly to your battery with the part # RA3501 which puts out a decent amount of heat.

  • Determining How Long The Rampage Radiant Heater RA3501 Will Run On 500ah System W/ 200w Solar Panel
I would be happy to walk you through how to calculate your power usage while powering the Rampage Radiant Heater # RA3501 overnight, but I have no way to calculate this for you as there are way too many variables. Instead you will want to follow the included help article to monitor your power usage overnight. While it is geared towards solar panels it still is the same as in what you are wanting to do. I also included a video of the # RA3501 for you to take a look at.

To install the Rampage Radiant Backseat Heater # RA3501 you will simply need to route the Red wire to the positive terminal and then ground the Black wire or route it to the negative terminal on your battery. This heater does work with a 12V system and you can splice in a thermostat if needed. • Recommended Wiring Instructions For The Rampage Radiant Backseat Heater
The 12v cigarette lighter outlets we carry aren't going to be rated for a 25amp power draw so you would need to wire the Rampage Radiant Backseat Heater - 300 Watt - 12 Volt # RA3501 either directly to the battery with a in-line fuse holder like # SWC9539 or to the DC distribution panel in your RV's power center with a 25 amp fuse. The # RA3501 isn't really designed to be connected to a cigarette lighter style outlet but I'm assuming you're wanting this so that you can unplug and remove...

  • Recommended Heater for the Interior of a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan for Camping in the Van
Your best option is going to be an electric heater. The other options are heaters that use heated vehicle coolant which means you would have to have your 2016 Dodge Caravan running to maintain the heat. To avoid draining the battery down as fast I recommend a heater that uses the least amount of wattage. That would be Kat's heater # KH37650 which is rated at 150 watts.
