Hooking Up 2020 Thor Motorhome with 50 Amp Outlet to 30 Amp Service at Camping Ground

Question:

I have my new 2020 Thor motorhome in the shop at camping world. The battery isolator switch I am told is bad and because I used a loaner 50 to 30 converter while at a campground that did not have 50m amp service. I was told some of the converters do not convert the voltage correctly. Personall I dont believe that was the issue but do you have 50 to 30 amp converters that are specifically for this purpose and if so can you provide your part number. Thanks,

Yes, we actually have a nice selection of plugs and cords that allow you to hook up your Thor RV with a 50 amp outlet to camp grounds that only offer 30 amp service. I specifically recommend the Mighty Cord # A10-3050FHVP, which features a 90-degree female connector that makes it easier to plug into the RV with less strain on the cord itself.

I have attached a link below that will take you to our full selection of similar adapters as well.

There isn't an issue with making this type of connection, and I'm not sure why it would cause any problems with the battery isolator, but one thing you will need to keep in mind is that you will just have less power in this situation. Since your RV is built to run off of 50 amp service, you may not be able to run all your accessories like you normally would when hooking up to 30 amp service stations.
