Can Head On Lippert Electric Trailer Jack Be Rotated to Gain Clearance For Tailgate
Question:
is it possible to rotate the head unit 90 deg on a Lippert LC285318.Doing this would allow the tailgate to be opened with trail attached.

I do have a solution for you, however just the head itself on the Lippert Electric Trailer Jack # LC285318 cannot be rotated.
To gain clearance between it and the tailgate on your truck your best option is to simply use a longer ball mount. Something like the Curt # D-26, which measures 12-5/8" long from the hitch pin hole to the ball hole, would work well to increase space between the truck and trailer connection so that you can lower your tailgate.
