Can Batteries Connected in Parallel Each Connect to Chassis Ground Instead of Each Other
Question:
My rv was prewired for 2 batteries but only came with one installed. If I connect a 2nd one as is, both batteries will be connected to ground. Do I need to disconnect the main battery’s ground wire and only have the second battery run to ground or will it be ok to leave both connected to ground?

Technically, you could connect each of you batteries' negative terminals to chassis. As long as the two positive terminals are connected to each other, you'll still achieve the same result: double the capacity and while retaining a 12V output.
That being said, it's typically recommended to connect both negative terminals on the batteries together, and only ground one to chassis. This is because that creates the best and most secure connection.
I recommend using the Deka 2/0 Gauge Overmolded Battery Cable Harness Assembly # DW04362 to connect the positive terminals between both batteries.
