Why Does etrailer Hitch for 2017 Ford Explorer have Three Bolt Holes on One Side and Other Two
Question:
Just installed this hitch on my 2017 Ford Explorer. Now I am wondering why there are three bolts on attachment side and only two on the other side. Can you enlighten me as to why there are not three on both sides. Thanks

Hitch manufacturers have to work with how the vehicle manufacturers design the vehicles. On your 2017 Ford Explorer there happens to be access to a third hole on the frame on the one side so they went ahead and utilized it.
With it's current design the hitch is conservatively rated for 4,000 lbs total trailer weight.
