Parts Needed to go From 2,800 lb Lippert Axles to 3,500 Dexter Axles on Trailer

Question:

How involved is it to upgrade a dual braked axle RV travel trailer with 2800 lb Lippert axles to use 3500 lb axles? I presume you would need the new axles and matching springs, but would the old brake assemblies be useable? Also are there differences in the mounting configurations like bracket spacing? Tnx

You'd basically end up replacing everything you mentioned plus the assemblies as they are rated differently. To make it as easy as possible you might look into new axles that come totally assembled with hub/drums and assemblies so that it's a one and done deal like with the part # 35545E-ST-89 which would work great as long as your current axle dimensions match. This axle is 89 inches from hub face to hub face and 74 inches between spring seats. This is a very common size but if you need something different let me know and I'll see what we have or where you should go. There are different sizes so it's very important you get the dimensions matched.

We have a few different sizes for 3,500 lb leaf springs too like the part # e54SR which is 25-1/8 inches long, # SP-210275 which is 27 inches long, and # e59SR which is 23-1/8 inches long.
