Using Ultra Fab Hitch Mounted Skid Wheels on Slide-Out Bike Rack Installed on Travel Trailer
Question:
will skid wheels work on a travel trailer with slide out bike rack
asked by: Bob C
Expert Reply:
You would not want to use a skid wheel on anything that would extend off of the rear of your travel trailer. The skid wheels are intended to be installed on the crossbar of a receiver hitch, and would prevent the receiver from dragging on the ground when driving over speed bumps or entering driveways.
Using the wheels on a bike rack will actually reduce the ground clearance at the back of the trailer, and would cause the rack to bend, as it is not an integral part of the trailer like the receiver hitch would be.
Using taller wheels like part # UF48-979014 and mounting them to your receiver crossbar would gain you more clearance, and would be a better option for you.
