Where Does Red Wire on Trailer Brake Controller Connect
Question:
Where do i connect my brake light wire for trailer brake controller when hooking up after market traiker brake controller

Expert Reply:
The red wire from your trailer brake controller like Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 needs to be connected to the cold side of the brake light switch wire behind the brake pedal in your vehicle. This is the wire that ONLY gets power when the brake pedal is depressed and doesn't get power with any other function.
You will want to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to verify the correct wire on the vehicle.
If you can tell me what specific vehicle you are installing the brake controller on I will be happy to see if we might have info on what color wire this typically is, or even see if there's an easier way to install the controller such as with a plug-in adapter harness.
