No Stop/Turn Lights On One Trailer But Other Trailer Works Fine

Question:

I have a 2018 Tacoma P/U. I have two trailers, the jet ski trailer lights work - turn signals, brakes, reverse, running lights. On the utility trailer only the running lights work. The jet ski trailer has a normal connector, 4 pin/4 wires in white, green, brown, yellow. The utility trailer has a 4 pin/5 wire connector, white, green, 2 browns one each side and yellow. Are you familiar with this type of connector? I havent had a chance to check the continuity on the ground and wanted to get your thoughts.

Yes, the utility trailer has what is called a wishbone style 4-way trailer wiring harness and it's actually pretty common. The only difference between this and the standard 4-way trailer wiring harness on your jet ski trailer is that there is a running light wire for each side of the trailer instead of being joined into one wire before being ran up to the trailer connector.

That said, the above difference is not the issue with your stop/turn signal lights. I first recommend you reground the trailer connector but if this does not fix the issue then start tracing the green/yellow wires back while checking for breaks. There could also be an issue with the ground for either tail light. If you want you could just install a new trailer wiring harness, the 35 Ft 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness part # A35W42B.
