Troubleshooting Trailer Taillight Setup Where LED and Incandescent Bulbs are Both Installed

Question:

I have a old homemade trailer with a mixture of led and incandescent stop and turn lights. An electrical adaptor was installed on my BMW X3 which now has trouble with the older incandescent on the left, but runs the newer leds on the right. 12v Voltage is there, on and off, but filaments will not light up. Double checked grounds OK. Does adaptor limit current?

The adapter shouldn't limit current and should only add resistance to the connection so that it senses more of a load on it. I'd check to see how your lights are all wired. If they are all wired in series where the ground is connecting to the power of the next light then that is your issue as you can't mix LED and incandescent bulbs with this style of wiring.

You need the lights all wired to the same power feed wire and grounding independently.
