How To Upgrade From a Factory 4-Way Connector To 7-Way Connector on 2004 Ford Expedition
Question:
Will part #118247 Replacement 7-Way Wiring Harness for 2004 Ford F-150 with OEM 4-Flat Trailer Connector work with a 2004 Ford Expedition with OEM 4-flat trailer connector? If not, do you have a harness that will? Thanks.

To upgrade the trailer connector on the rear of your 2004 Ford Expedition from a 4-Way to a 7-Way you will need to use the Hopkins Adapter, part # 37185. This adapter will plug into the existing factory 4-Way on your vehicle.
After plugging in your 4-Way to the back of the # 37185 adapter the four remaining wires on the adapter will need to be hardwired to the corresponding circuits on the vehicle.
The white (ground) wire will need to be attached to the vehicle frame, the black (12 volt power) wire is connected to the vehicles battery with 10 gauge wire like the # 10-1-1, through a 40-amp circuit breaker # 9510, the blue (trailer brake) wire will be connected to the blue trailer brake feed wire on the brake controller, and the purple (auxiliary) wire is for reverse lights if you need that circuit. If any of these connections are not needed just wire tie them up out of the way for future use. I am including a link to a FAQ page on routing a power wire to your vehicles battery.
The Tow Ready Wiring Harness, part # 118247, that you have referenced will only fit the Ford F-150 vehicles.
I am also including a link to a video of the # 37185 adapter being installed on a Ford F-250. The vehicle is different but the installation is similar.
