Do the Blue, Yellow, and Black Wires Need To Be Run On the Curt Trailer Connector Adapter C57672

Question:

Hi, Im looking at the CURT 57672 Dual-Output 4 Flat Vehicle-Side to 7-Way RV Blade Trailer Wiring Adapter on Amazon and I am wondering if I can install it on my 86 F150 with the 4 way plug. I dont have the three extra wires for splicing but am wondering if I would still have lights on the trailer without using the three extra wires.

For starters, we do not offer products through Amazon as they are a competitor of ours. However, I can offer you the Curt Trailer Connector Adapter part # C57672 which will work on your 1968 Ford F-150 if you have an existing 4-way trailer connector. The additional black, yellow, and blue wires do not need to be attached in order for the trailer light to work but you will need to ground the white wire to your frame. The black wire is to charge a battery on the trailer and you will need to run this to the vehicle's battery if present but if not you can just tape it off. The yellow wire is for reverse lights and will need to be ran to the vehicle's reverse light circuit if the trailer has reverse lights and you want to use them otherwise you can just tape it off. The blue wire is for electric trailer brakes and will need to be run to an in-cab brake controller if the trailer has brakes and you want to use them otherwise you can just tape it off.
