What is Speed Rating and Tire Pressure Requirement for Kenda 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire/Wheel
Question:
Hello friendly e-trailer guys. I have 3 intertwined questions for you pros: If the trailer load remains the same, does tire pressure affect the speed rating of this tire? AM30620. If so, I would be curious to see a chart that shows tire pressure vs speed rating. I’ve read this tire is “rated” for 90psi, but I am not sure if that is the recommended pressure. In my experience, a rating is not the same as the recommended spec. Comments? For my application, I have a light duty trailer that will be running highway speeds. The load is a mere fraction of the rated load capacity. Is 90psi the optimum pressure here? Thanks!

With the Kenda 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" White Wheel # AM30620 the tire pressure required is 90 psi at all times. With trailer tires you have to inflate them to the max rating that's on the sidewall when cold to ensure the tire has it's full capacity and speed rating without allowing for heat build up. There isn't a diminished capacity/rating chart based on lowered pressure either so your best option is 90 psi at all times and you'd be set.
This tire and wheel combo is rated for highway speeds of 65 mph.
