Why Would 12 Volt Power Circuit of 7-Way Tester be Active all the Time

Question:

I just recently had this wired up on my 2018 VW Tiguan. Question: 12v led stays fully lit with car off and no trailer connected. Is this normal? Also I noticed an occasional flickering of the brake control led with car off and no trailer connected. Yes the brake control is still connected. ADDITONAL INFO EMAILED IN: Tekonsha prodigy 2 purchased from etrailer. Love it and etrailer. Person who wired my 2019 Tiguan tied into car brakes so when no trailer override on controller locks up car brakes.

The 12 volt trailer accessory circuit of your 7-way is ran directly to the positive post of your battery which means this circuit is active all the time. This is why the light is on currently. To prevent this you'd need to install an isolation solenoid so that it only comes on when the vehicle is on.

Now with that said whoever installed your brake controller did not install it correctly. The brake controller should have no affect on your vehicle brakes and if it does you need to have that addresses immediately. They clearly screwed it up and should either fix it or give you your money back.
