What is the Function of the Second Yellow Wire on the Curt Adapter C57674

Question:

I just installed a 4 pin to 7 pin connector and brake controller which I purchased from etrailer using your 4 to 7 pin adaptor kit. My question is about this part: Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole and 4 Pole w/Test Lamps Item # C57674 I followed your installation video for a 2011 Ford F150. This video has you hooking up the 12 V directly to the battery. Since the connector above has LED indicating which signal are live, the 12 V signal is always on. Im guessing it draws minuscule current but wanted to confirm. Also, there is a yellow wire in the assembly terminated in barrel connector. This isnt mentioned in your video. Im guessing it is redundant with the yellow wire in the 4 pin connector, but could you verify. Thanks

The 12V LED indicator light on the Curt Adapter # C57674 that you installed on your 2011 Ford F-150 won't draw enough power to drain your battery as you indicated.

The extra yellow wire is actually an auxiliary pin which most people use for the reverse light function. I know it is a little confusing because there already is a yellow wire, but since there are no laws about what wire needs to carry which function this is just the design that Curt decided to go with.

Attached is a piece of the linked installation instructions which you can find on page 2. These functions are not required to be connected unless you wanted to use those functions.
