Parts Needed to Tow Camper with 2013 Toyota Sienna
Question:
Looking into a trailer hitch for a 2013 Toyota Sienna to tow a pop-up camper a short distance. I heard something about a wiring harness, would I need that as well? Thanks.

Yes, in addition to a trailer hitch you will also need to install a wiring harness on your 2013 Toyota Sienna to power the trailer's signal lights during travel.
Starting with the hitch I highly recommend the etrailer.com # e98837 that allows for a really simple, no-drill installation and features a unique matte black finish that provides a rugged appearance and is resistant to scratches. The 2 inch hitch itself has a 3,500 pound towing weight capacity and a 350 pound tongue weight limit.
I have attached an installation video on the 2014 model Sienna that you can follow along with.
Then for a wiring harness your best option will be with the Tekonsha T-One # 118498 that will plug right into factory ports located behind the tail lights. You will then need to run the hot lead up to the Sienna's battery to provide sufficient power to the harness. This will provide you with a 4-Way connector to connect with the mating end that your camper will be equipped with so that its signal lights power up in correspondence to your van during travel.
I have again attached an installation video that you can use for reference.
Lastly in order to tow a trailer you will need a ball mount and hitch ball. I have attached a great article that explains how to choose the right one for your setup along with a link that will take you to our available selection.
