Cargo Box Options and Rear Hatch Clearance Needed for 2018 Honda CRV
Question:
Hello What is the distance from the front clips to secure the SR7011 to the front crossbar all the way to the outside back of the box? I need to know if my HONDA CRV, 2018 hatch will hit the box or not and the install booklet doesn’t give this info. I am also interested in the Yakima Skybox 12. Thanks

The measurement you're looking for is the rear hatch clearance measurement which is from the center of the front crossbar to the line where the roof and hatch meet on your 2018 Honda CRV. That measurement needs to be 52 1/2 inches for the SportRack Horizon Rooftop Cargo Box to clear your open hatch. The SportRack has a sleek design providing a low profile and would look great on your CRV.
For the Yakima SkyBox 12 Rooftop Cargo Box # Y07334 the rear hatch clearance requires 57 inches between the center of the front crossbar to the line where the roof and hatch meet. This is my choice between the two if it meets the rear hatch clearance requirement. A larger box provides more storage, helpful for a smaller vehicle. Also the coating provides a modern, attractive design that looks great plus the box opens from both sides providing convenient access.
