Best Way To Lift a 2009 K-Z Sportsman 245 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

I would like to lift my RV so it sits better on my truck. Is it possible? Is there an axle lift kit for this model? I have 4 leaf springs. Does it also help to install 5 or 6 leaf springs? How many inches would be reasonable.

Helpful Expert Reply:

In order to lift your 2009 K-Z Sportsman 245 5th Wheel Trailer, I recommend using the Tandem Axle Lift Kit part # RR23QX which will give you an additional 2-1/4" of lift. This will be the least labor intensive option we have for you by far.

If your axles are not already under the leaf springs then you can move them there with the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit part # K71-384-00 or part # K71-385-00 which would lift the trailer equal to the diameter of the axle plus height of the leaf spring stack.

The installation of leaf springs with more leaves would only raise the trailer marginally if at all and you would most likely need to go with a higher capacity to do this which would worsen the ride so this is not what I recommend.
