Question:

HiI need the most lift so tires can be under trailer bed. Which tandem kit will give me the most tire clearance. Also, any spring over information u may have would be appreciated? Thanks

The # APT4 Tandem-Axle Hanger Kit will provide about 4 inches of clearance from the center of the trailer axle to the bottom of the trailer frame, with no load on the axle. This is assuming that your axle tube is 3 inches diameter. If your axle tube is smaller the height will be sightly less. The curve of the springs you select will have some affect also.

I would recommend that you go with the APT5 hanger kit because all of the hangers are the same height and it will make it easier to adjust the height of your trailer bed. This kit will give you about 4-1/2 inches from the center of the trailer axle to the bottom of the trailer frame, with no load on the axle.

If you need to mount your springs on top of the axle, you will need to install a spring seat on the opposite side of the axle, if there is already a spring seat welded to the axle. I have a drawing, see link, that shows how mounting the springs is normally accomplished. You will need to make sure that the bend in the axle is bowed up in the center.

If you have a 3 inch diameter axle that has spring seats welded in the under mount position, you can use the Over-Under Conversion Kit, # K71-385-00, to install the springs on top of the axle.

I have a 34 Continental Cargo triple torsion axle race trailer with a bathroom package. I am looking to lift it due to scrubbing and damaging the plumbing clean out lines on the underside of the trailer. What do you suggest for this?

There is not a whole lot of room for adjusting height with torsion axle trailers. One option is too check to see if you can use larger diameter wheels and tires. You would need to make sure you have the extra space under the fenders to fit them without rubbing. Also note that anything done to increase height can change the behavior of the trailer behind the tow vehicle. Beyond that, with torsion axles, I would strongly suggest contacting the trailer manufacturer to see what can be safely done to prevent damage to the underside due to clearance.
