Where Should the Breakaway Cable and Pin Be Attached on 5th Wheel Hitch Application?
Question:
Where do you hook your emergency brake cable?

Expert Reply:
There is not a designated location on a 5th wheel hitch like # RP30144 for the emergency Breakaway Kit # 20099 cable. Most people will connect that cable to the tethered pin that locks the jaws of the head in place near the handle. You can see this at the 5:38 mark on the attached video and I've attached a photo to help as well. This location allows for the hitch to slide as needed without adding any extra tension to that pin reducing the chance of binding and coming disconnected when there isn't a connection issue with the trailer itself.
