Class V Trailer Hitch that Will Fit a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 with a Factory Installed Trailer Hitch
Question:
I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 Quad Cab Short Bed 5.9L Cummins With the factory trailer hitch. I was wondering if the Curt C15809 Trailer hitch will fit in place of the factory trailer hitch? The foot note said will not fit trucks with factory hitches. I would like to remove the factory hitch and install this one if it will fit.

You will not be able to remove the factory hitch on your 2007 Dodge Ram because it is welded and integrated into the bumper cross member which it welded to the truck frame. You would need to use a hitch that fits around the factory hitch.
For a Class V hitch, you can use Curt # C15809. This hitch will also give you a 2-1/2 inch receiver and a capacity of 2,700 pounds tongue weight and 20,000 pounds gross trailer weight. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.
I also recommend adding the etrailer ball mount kit, # EBMK25318. It comes with a ball mount, a 2-5/16 inch diameter ball, and a carrying bag. For a pin and clip use # 37201065.
