Wiring Harness Plug on a 2002 Subaru Outback

Thanks for the help. One other question. On the passenger side of the gas tank, attached to the frame is a black, plastic object with hoses coming out of it. What is it, and can I remove it to install the hitch? It's in the way, and Im stymied.

The Subaru Outback connection point is located by removing a 3 inch x 3 inch interior access panel behind the driver side tail lamp housing.

You can remove the black box while you install the hitch and then reattach it when you are finished with installing the hitch, thus no longer leaving you stymied!
