The Hopkins trailer wiring harnesses like the model 20244 you have feature wire colors that differ a bit from standard setups so this is likely why the new plug isn't working when splicing the wires color to color.

For your 20244 plug, which is similar to our Hopkins # H20043, the wire color functions are as follows:

White - Ground
Red - Left Turn and Brake
Brown - Right Turn and Brake
Green - Running Lights
Blue - Brake Power
Black - 12V Power
Yellow - Aux

In addition to some of the other wires likely being mixed up the fact that the white ground wire is not connected at all right now is probably the reason why nothing is working on the trailer with the new plug installed.

You will want to make sure you connect the wires from the new plug to your trailer wires by function. If you are unsure which wire on your trailer carries which function, your best route is to simply test them by applying 12V power to each to see what function they activate.
