Why Does Black Wire of ETBC7L Run to Vehicle Battery

Why do I need to run the black power wire to the battery when there is already a black power wire to the battery for the existing 4 pole connector? Thanks!!

If you have a power wire ran to your current 4-way wiring it's to power the taillights of your trailer from the battery instead of your vehicle taillights. The 12 volt power wire of the # ETBC7L is then for providing a 12 volt power source to the trailer or for a brake controller that installs on the trailer like the Curt Echo Mobile part # C51180.
