Recommended 275/75-14 Size Tires for Travel Trailer Highway and Off-Road Use

Question:

I have an older 1974 17 foot travel trailer that needs new tires. I will be looking for 4 or 5 215x75x14 inch tires. While I will be spending as lot of time traveling at highway speeds, I will also be traveling down gravel and dirt mountain roads. Is there a tire that will be good for highway and have strong enough sidewalls to take rugged roads?

Expert Reply:

For your application I recommend going with the Loadstar ST215/75D14 Bias Trailer Tire # AM1ST90. This comes with a load range of C (1,870 lbs at 50 psi) and a speed rating of M which means it is rated for up to 81 mph. Bias tires are better for off-road use than radial tires because bias have a sidewall that is more stiff.
