Is a Converter Box Needed for 2007 Toyota Highlander with Factory Tow Package

Question:

Hello, I have a 2007 Highlander w the Factory Towing Prep Package that includes a Heavy duty Radiator, Oil cooler, Transmission cooler, etc, etc .....and of course the factory Towing Wiring and dedicated connector. Ive installed a hitch, so now its time for the wiring. Im old school and remember the old days when we would take the appropriate wires and Scotch lock them to the appropriate circuits. Question: Do I need a Converter since I have the factory Tow package wiring in place? I ask because theres conflicting information where some forums say NO and others say Yes....lol. Please shed some light on this. thanks!

Yes, your 2007 Toyota Highlander (Non-Hybrid) will require a converter box because it has a separate wiring system in which the brake and turn signals are on different circuits. In order to combine them which will be needed for any trailers here in the US you will need a wiring harness with built-on converter box for which I recommend using the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118248 because it is a complete plug and play option. We have also found that Tekonsha brand wiring products tend to be the most reliable.

I have attached an install video for you as well.
