Will Class I Curt Trailer Hitch Fit a 2009 Mercedes E-350 4Matic Sport
Question:
The fit chart says the c11701 will not fit my car but I want to know why. I’ve watched the video and that car though a 2003 is nearly identical to mine. In fact I believe it is a sport edition as well. One reviewer has a 2008 like mine which is really an identical car to mine says it fits his perfectly. I am looking to mount a bike rack only and no trailer towing. If this rack does not work like you say then which model does fit? Thanks!!!

Typically when a note is added to a "Sport Package" version of a vehicle, like your 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-350 4Matic, it's because either the exhaust is in the way or there is a lot of rear fascia trimming that needs to take place for the trailer hitch to fit properly. When I reached out to my contact at Curt he said that the exhaust on your vehicle wouldn't be an issue so there is likely a bit of fascia that needs to be trimmed.
If you are willing to do some trimming for the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11701 to fit then my contact at Curt said it will actually mount up to the bolt holes and fit. This is why we have the customer review saying that he was able to fit it on his 2008 model.
Please note that if you are planning on carrying a bike rack with this trailer hitch you are limited to 2 bikes since it is a Class I trailer hitch. Curt also states that to keep within the warranty on this trailer hitch you must use a support strap like part # 18050 for all non-trailer loads (like a bike rack).
If you don't already have a bike rack then I highly recommend going with the Kuat Beta # B202-114 because it is a lightweight bike rack (only 12.6 lbs!) that comes fully assembled and can carry 2 bikes weighing up to 40 lbs each. Another perk of this bike rack is that the arms only sit 8" apart on center which greatly reduces the need for an adapter bar like part # UB01 when the bike frame doesn't have a horizontal top tube.
