Best 5th Wheel Hitch for a New 2019 Ram 1500 with 5-1/2 Foot Bed

I have a 5 wheel trailer I got with a slider reise hitch but need to put rails in my new truck that is a 5’7” bed. I just got 1500 ram. Please tell me we can make this work with what I have.

If you have the new body style 2019 Ram 1500 then I do have an option for you but you will not be able to use the sliding 5th wheel hitch you have now. Instead, you will need to use a fixed 5th wheel hitch and rotating pin box in order to provide adequate turning clearance with a 5-1/2' (5'7") bed.

For your Ram 1500, I recommend using the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVK3500-5W with the Custom Underbed Installation Kit part # BWGNRK1319-5W. This is an excellent combo that will provide you with both a 5th wheel and gooseneck connection point. It also allows for full truck bed access with the 5th wheel hitch removed.

The B&W Companion has 1" thick dual locking jaws which are going to do an excellent job of reducing both chucking and jarring. The head is also removable so it is easy to take in and out of the truck bed. The Underbed Installation Kit is a custom fit so very minimal drilling is required.

In order to recommend the proper rotating pin box I would need to know the make and model of the pin box you have now. Once you find this you can then use it to select the correct rotating pin box which I have attached a list of for you in addition to a help article. The most common pin box is a Lippert 1621 and if that is what you have then the correct replacement rotating pin box would be the Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret part # RP34FR.
