What Kind of Paint Should be Used for Galvanized Steel of Boat Winch Mount # CE31013G
Question:
I have a Calkin trailer that has oxidation on the winch stand although the trailor hasnt been used in twenty years, been in storeage all that time and has never been in salt water[my boats a 12 ft alum]. anyway will the CE310136 fit my trailer or will I have to Drill more mounting holes? also its stated that it should be painted. what paint is suitable for painting galvanized steel? Thanks for support!

Most acrylic coatings will adhere directly to cleaned galvanized metal. A weathered galvanized surface develops a layer of white rust, which must be removed to ensure good adhesion of the coating. Wire brushing or scrubbing with a stiff brush or abrasive pad is recommended to remove the white rust.
As long as your trailer tongue is 2 inches wide the mount part # CE31013G is going to fit and work well.
