Replacement Friction Pads for the Reese Stedi-Flex Weight Distribution System

Question:

According to your video the bars ride on friction pads which help control swaying. As with any friction pads ie brake pads at some point they will wear down. Are these pads replaceable, how much does that cost and how difficult is it to replace them?

The Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 10K GTW, 1K TW # RP66559 utilizes friction pads that will eventually wear down as you stated. It will take a long time for these pads to require replacing, but the Replacement Friction Pad Kit for Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution Systems # RP58527 are available and easy to replace with a simple screw and nut.

Since the spring bars don't actually slide back and forth in the brake-shoe lined brackets, how can this possibly supply sway control?

The spring bars will actually move back and forth a bit against the brake pad to create that friction-based sway control on the Reese Steadi-Flex System.

@ChrisR Does anyone else have a VERY loud noise from the friction pads rubbing when turning? Thanks,

@JimM Those friction pads do have a coating of steel so the steel-on-steel friction is what you're hearing. And yes, that is common with friction sway-control systems.
