Where to Look for Factory Wiring on 2002 Chevy Silverado

How do you know if your truck has the factory 7-way wires already run to the back? My truck doesnt have the factory 7-way harness or hitch, its have aftermarket hitch and wire 6-way harness. It is a 2002 1500hd Silverado. Do I need to remove the spare tire?

You are in the right spot in looking for the wiring on your 2002 Chevy Silverado.

If you take a look at the accompanying cutout I added you can see that the wires - if present - will be found above the spare tire. The cutout I added is from a link to a help article on installing a brake controller in 1999-2006 Chevy/GMC pickups.
