Weight Distribution System Vs Friction Sway Control Bar
Question:
I have a single axle 3500 lb. travel trailer. I was towing it with a 2006 Ford F150 using the Fastway e2 WD. I have just replaced the truck with a Ram 1500 that has automatic adjusting 4 corner air suspension. When I hook up the trailer the truck automatically levels. My question is do I still need the WD system or would just using a sway control bar be sufficient. Any thoughts you have would be appreciated.

A weight distribution system with integrated sway control like the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System will do a much better job of managing trailer sway than an independent sway control bar like the Curt Friction Sway Control part # 17200.
Therefore, I recommend using the weight distribution system you have now instead of using a sway control bar. The sway control bar will however be a bit easier to set up each time but as mentioned will not manage trailer sway as well as a weight distribution system.
When using the Fastway e2 on your Ram with the auto leveling feature you will want to attach the trailer and let the vehicle level. Once the vehicle has leveled to the best of its ability you can then tension the spring bars.
