Recommend Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch for 2017 Ford F-250 with 6-3/4 Foot Bed

Question:

I have a 2017 F250 with a 6 3/4foot bed with the factory installed 5th wheel prep system installed Pucks. I have looked at the BandW hitches but am unsure if I need a slider style hitch or not. Can you advise as to if a slider style is required and what manufacturers are recommended. The I am purchasing a 2015 Forest River Vengeance 3062V toy hauler. Also could you provide the hitch weight of this trailer, I cant seem to find it.

From what I can find online the dry hitch weight of your 2015 Forest River Vengeance 3062V toy hauler is 2,015 lbs with a GVWR of 17,255 lbs.

For your 2017 Ford F-250 with 6-3/4 foot bed, you will need a sliding hitch. My recommendation for a hitch compatible with your factory puck system as well as your trailer weight is the B&W Companion Slider - 20K # BWRVK3370. This will mount right into your factory pucks and is a very well made hitch. This hitch has 12 inches of travel to give you the two locking positions for towing and turning in tight spaces like around gas pumps.

If you want an automatic slider so you don't need to do the manual adjustment, then I recommend the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider - 18K # DM8550024. This slider will connect to your factory pucks and will automatically move to ensure you have the turning clearance needed. This hitch has 14 inches of travel to assist with this.

With either hitch option, I recommend the wiring harness # 50-97-410-010 if you don't already have a 7 way in the bed of your truck for easy connection access and a clean look.
