Does 7-Way Connector Need to be Mounted Behind Trailer Hitch Receiver
Question:
A trailer service center mounted my vehicle connector and it extends about 2.5 inch beyond the bumper. I am concerned that this will easily be damaged in no time from parking lot bumps. Should this be remounted to be at least flush or recessed to the vehicle bumper?

It really just depends on the person if you want it remounted or not. Some people may not be concerned with it while others are, such as yourself.
If the 2-1/2" is a concern for you then you may want to use something like the Draw-Tite Bracket # 18159 which mounts directly to the trailer hitch. It may require the connector to be oriented in a slightly different way but it should put the connector behind the receiver of your vehicle.
