Will a Flagstaff Classic Super Lite Work on a 2018 Ram 1500 with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
Question:
I have a 2015 Flagstaff Classic Super Lite 8528 RSWS fifth wheel with a factory installed Reese Revolution pin box. I am thinking about purchasing a 2018 Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab 4x4 with a 5’7” bed length. Will I have enough clearance for a 90 degree turn without causing damage to he truck or camper? What hitch would you recommend to accommodate the weight dry wt. 8067lbs of the camper and get the most room in such a short bed? The truck has a 3.92 axle ratio and towing capacity is 10170 lbs.

Yes, you should have enough clearance between the cab of a 2018 Ram 1500 and loft of your 2015 Flagstaff Classic Super Lite 8528 RSWS when making a sharp turn with the Reese Revolution. However, I recommend using the formula below so you can know without a doubt if there will be an issue.
For a 5th wheel hitch, I recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 with the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit part # RP50142-58. This is an excellent option for your Ram as it has a 16,000 lb towing capacity and dual locking jaw system for maximum jaw to kingpin contact. It is also fairly compact compared to others like it. The base rail kit is a custom fit so very little drilling will be required.
