Question:
2013 Sonic Hatchback not RS Howdy! I’m thinking of installing a hitch in my car. Would I be able to do it without the use of a lift? Thank you!

Howdy to you, too!
Installing a trailer hitch on your 2013 Chevy Sonic Hatchback does not require a lift. But there isn't much space between the ground and the vehicle so you would benefit from using a jack and jack stands. It will make the install process a lot easier and less frustrating.
The available trailer hitch for your hatchback model is Curt hitch # C11258. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you.
If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch.
Curt also says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a bike rack or cargo carrier) per their warranty requirements. I have linked the Class I compatible 2-bike racks and cargo carriers for you.
