A great place to start your boat trailer brake conversion project is the linked article that covers the topic of changing a trailer to disc brake operation. The article includes links and details about the whole conversion process.

If you choose to convert your tandem axle aluminum boat trailer from hydraulic drum to hydraulic disc brakes you will also need to replace your actuator since disc brakes require higher pressure to operate. You may be able to replace just the master cylinder but if not you'll need a new actuator. I linked our page for disc brake surge actuators. Your existing brake lines will work fine with the disc setup since they will handle the higher pressure.

You'll want to confirm your axles' weight rating to select the appropriate kit; often you can find a sticker or plate on the axle to tell you its weight rating. Kit # K2HR526DS works on axles from 5200 to 6000-lb ratings, has your 6-on-5-1/2 wheel bolt pattern and fits number 42 spindles that use bearings # 25580 and # 15123 and seal # RG06-070.
