Expert Reply:

A surge brake actuator will need to be based off of the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the trailer with the boat loaded. As long as the boat and trailer do not weigh more than 12,500 lbs I recommend using the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator part # T4750820.

The Titan actuator will bolt onto a 3" wide straight tongue trailer, fits a 2-5/16" hitch ball, and has an electric reverse lockout solenoid. The actuator has a zinc plating for corrosion resistance as well as an integrated breakaway system. It also comes with a 1-year warranty.
