Determining Correct Lippert Ground Control System for 2006 Heartland Bighorn 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

I am considering a Lippert Ground control system for my 2006 Heartland Bighorn 3600RL 5th Wheel. I need to know which one to buy. The front are the standard vertical leveling jacks Electric. the rear are stabilizer type. Does Lippert make a Bolt on kit for my 5th wheel? If so, which one?

Installing the Lippert Ground Control System on your 2006 Heartland Bighorn 5th Wheel Trailer is a great idea. When determining whether to use the 4-Point Set # LC358590 or the 6-Point Set # LC675817 there are a couple things you will want to look at specific to your Bighorn Trailer.

First is the GVWR of the trailer, which is the most it can weigh when fully loaded. If the GVWR is more than 15,500 pounds, then you will want to go with the 6-Point System. If it is less than 15,500 pounds, you will also want to determine the distance between the center of the landing gear foot and the center of the rear jack foot. If this is more than 20 feet, then the 6-Point System is still the way to go even if your GVWR falls below 15,500 pounds.

If the GVWR is less than 15,500 pounds and the above distance is less than 20 feet, the 4-Point System will work perfectly.

Both Ground Control Systems are bolt-on installations that don't require any welding to the trailer frame. I have attached a short video demonstration on this system that you can also check out.
