Can Both Hydraulic and Electric Landing Gear Legs Be Installed on a Trailer

Question:

Hi. I just purchased a 2018 Forest River Vengeance 377V, on my first trip one of the front jacks developed a leak form the top due to a broken bolt. The front of the trailer ped down and the only way to hook up was to hire a fork lift to raise the trailer and block it up to hook up to my tow vehicle. My question is, can I install a set of electric jacks behind the landing jacks as a back up.

On most trailers there is not going to be space for two sets of landing gear legs on each side of the trailer so I would have to say no unless a professional fabricator made extensive modifications to the trailer. The issue you described with your hydraulic landing gear set is the reason they are becoming less and less popular. The Lippert Ground Control 3.0 Electric 5th Wheel RV Leveling System part # LC675817 is a far better system in my opinion and you should be able to switch over from hydraulic to electric without much difficulty. Though the electric system is not immune to faults, they do have a manual override feature that will allow you to raise and lower the jacks in the event of an error which is what makes this system truly superior.

I have attached a review video of this system for you as well.
