Replacement Step Control Module for a 2009 Safari Passage Series Motorhome

Question:

My chassis battery went dead on my coach so I did a parasitic draw test and when I connected my amp meter to the neg, post and neg. cable my coach stairs closed! Amp reading was going from 2 to 14 amps. Unplugged the motor leads from the control module to motor and the amp draw disappeared. I did a ground test on the motor leads from the control module and both those leads are grounded. I am suspecting the module is the problem. Motor seems ok. The stairs work perfect though. For now I keep the chassis disconnect switch off. This is a 2009 Safari Passage ww22. lci step # 128980. Control module # 164889. What do you guys think? Thanks.

The problem that you are describing does indeed sound like a problem with the control module for your steps. In order to replace this you are going to want to use the Replacement Control Module for Lippert Electric Coach Step part # LC301702. When the control module goes bad it could cause the steps to completely quit working all together or just erratic functions. This will all depend on the fault of the circuit board inside the control box.
