Recommended Tire Replacement for 225/75R16 Travel Trailer Tires

Question:

I have 225/75 r16 on my travel trailer right now with slight weigh sitting on them. It looks like I only have about 2 and 1/2 inches of clearance. Will the taskmaster 235/80 r16 fit within the same space?.. It is 31inch from ground to top of wheel well.

Your current tires are about 29.3 inches diameter with a 8.9 inch width when inflated. The Taskmaster Provider # TTWTRTM2358016E will be slightly larger at 30.79 inches diameter and 9.25 inches wide. This is an excellent tire that will work well for you.

It sounds like your travel trailer needs more wheel well clearance, so you may consider using the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00 for 3,500 lb axles or # K71-385-00 for 3 inch diameter axles. This will move your springs from underneath your axles to on top of your axles. It will raise your trailer the diameter of your axle plus the height of your leaf spring stack.

Note: Raising your trailer height at your axles will also raise the height at the trailer coupler for towing level.
