Does Thule EasyFold XT 2 Require Fat Tire Bike Straps for 3-1/2 Tires?

Question:

Do you think I would need the extra long straps for 3.5 inch tires?

The Thule EasyFold XT 2 # TH903202 can fit tires that are up to 4-11/16" wide with Fat Bike Straps # TH985101.

The EasyFold XT is one of the best bike racks available due to it's ability to transport many different types of bikes and the quality-of-life features it offers. This rack can carry bikes with wide tires and has a 65 lb per-bike weight capacity; it also has detachable arms that can be repositioned to hold bikes of different heights by the downtubes, a hand knob to tighten the rack in the receiver, can be tilted forward to access your rear cargo area with the use of a foot lever, comes with locks to secure your rack to the hitch and bikes to the rack, has a folding ramp to help load your bikes and folds up to make carrying it simple.

I have a Thule EasyFold XT2 for my RadCity Step-Thru. I'm considering buying a RadRover Step-Thru, which has 4-inch tires. I know I will need the extension straps to accommodate the fat tires. My question is whether the ramp (I've purchased the extra-long ramp for a more gradual incline) will work with tires of this size. I definitely don't want a different rack--I love the Thule--but I'm pretty sure I would have difficulty lifting a bike without a ramp. If the Thule ramp won't work with fat tires, can you suggest another ramp-type solution?

The Extra-Long Loading Ramp # TH933402 can be used with the 4" tires on your new bike. The tires will a bit larger than the ramp surface but plenty small enough to still balance on it while pushing it up and onto the rack.

@ChrisR Great, thanks. I'm glad to hear it--I'm really impressed with the ramp. I wish the included instructions had actual WORDS, but the videos here and elsewhere were very helpful in figuring out how everything works.

@TeriG No problem at all. It's really a fantastic carrier (one of the best you can get, honestly). Thule picture instructions are.....fun. They are this way to cut through language barriers but they can be difficult to follow at times.
